Here are some bullet points I think could work as plot points in the film:
Mole Man: The first villain we see the team fight in the beginning of the film.
Doom: From their universe, glimpses of his backstory throughout but not a ton of screen time if any.
Galactus: Main villain, threatening the existence of the Fantastic Four universe.
Origin Story: The team already has powers when we meet them, with an out of order type of storytelling that can give us a glimpse into their origin story.
Final Battle: They fight Galactus and find a way to save their universe at the cost of them having to leave it and join our MCU universe.
Multiverse: Time travel and universe hopping, could mean a Hank Pym variant is involved as well because we know Pym Particles allow travel through time and space.
I decided to take these ideas and throw them into AI to see if any interesting ideas come about, the following is an AI synopsis of Fantastic Four: First Steps:
Set in an alternate 1960s MCU multiverse, the story begins with the Fantastic Four already established as heroes and cultural icons of their time. They face a harrowing battle against the Mole Man, an opening sequence that showcases their powers, camaraderie, and the retro-futuristic technology of their world. However, as triumphant as they seem, the fight only hints at the greater challenge looming over their universe.
Through fragmented flashbacks, we see the team’s origin—an experimental cosmic mission spearheaded by Reed Richards with the backing of visionary scientist Hank Pym. This Hank Pym is a variant of the one audiences know, a man who pioneered groundbreaking quantum research decades earlier. His inventions laid the foundation for the cosmic exploration that led to the Fantastic Four’s transformation and Victor Von Doom's tragic fall from grace.
Doom is glimpsed throughout the film as a menacing figure, a recluse turned techno-mystic after the same cosmic accident that created the Fantastic Four. Now operating in secret, Doom monitors their every move, his own schemes tied to the rapidly unraveling fabric of their universe.
The central conflict emerges when Galactus, the cosmic Devourer of Worlds, arrives in their universe, his Herald signaling doom for their reality. Galactus’s presence triggers worldwide panic as entire swaths of existence vanish before the Fantastic Four's eyes. Seeking a solution, Reed turns to his old mentor, Hank Pym, who has developed experimental Pym Particles capable of manipulating time and space. This Hank is a more paranoid, ethically ambiguous figure, scarred by his own miscalculations in tampering with reality.
Reed proposes using the particles to create a wormhole that can trap Galactus outside space-time. The plan is ambitious but fraught with risk, as the calculations hinge on dangerously unstable energy levels. The Fantastic Four, with Hank’s reluctant help, confront Galactus in a climactic battle set against the ruins of their crumbling universe.
During the final confrontation, Doom infiltrates their operation, covertly siphoning cosmic energy for his own device. When the Fantastic Four deploy the Pym Particle solution, the unstable energy backfires spectacularly. Galactus is hurled into the void as planned, but the resulting dimensional surge collapses their universe entirely. The Fantastic Four are swept into the multiverse, landing in a different timeline—the MCU’s Earth-616.
In the aftermath, the team finds themselves in the unfamiliar modern-day MCU, their 1960s sensibilities clashing with this new world. Meanwhile, a post-credits scene reveals Doom has survived the collapse, having used his stolen energy to chart his own path into Earth-616. Now armed with knowledge of the multiverse, Doom stands poised to exploit this new reality, a foreboding smirk on his face as he gazes at the skyline of a world ripe for domination.
This is not just a new beginning for the Fantastic Four but a dark and dangerous chapter for the multiverse.
Analysis:
I think this is actually a very interesting synopsis, I like a lot of plot points that it brings up but also there are some generic ideas in there:
Doom: I think the Doom plot point, acting as a background force, is a good idea. I think it would be best to keep him in the shadows and then in the post credit scene reveal who he is and actually showing RDJ's face. This would create a crazy amount of hype!
Pym: This was my idea because I wanted to find a way to connect the MCU to this universe with a familiar face. Pym's Particles are a great plot device to use and it doesn't introduce any new ideas that will eventually lead nowhere, as many post credit scenes have recently.
Galactus: I am not super familiar with Galactus from the comics as I haven't read many with him as the main villain but I do want a more in depth story to be laid out so we understand him and he is not a one off villain. There may be a lot going on in this idea but I think his backstory and origin should be a main focus.
